Biden signed off on a huge spending bill that Congress just passed. The money will go straight to border security in some Middle Eastern countries.

Out of the total amount of money needed, more than a trillion dollars will be spent on “enhanced border security” for countries in the Middle East, including Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Oman. It’s not the first time that millions of dollars have been put into the budget for a spending bill to help secure the borders with the Middle East.

Because of the current border situation in the United States, this move has become more controversial. It was mostly Republicans who didn’t want a spending bill that included money for border security in other countries.

Rep. Steve Scalise said, “But you see them rushing this thing through at night with billions of dollars in things that do border security in other countries and get in the way of border security in our own.”

In the end, this spending plan was what kept the government from shutting down, even though some officials were against the money.

There has been a lot of immigration into the United States, especially at the Southern Border. Since record numbers of immigrants have been coming into the U.S., Congress has been looking into different ways to protect the border.

It has been said by the Biden Administration that there is a “hemisphere-wide crisis” and that the immigration system needs to be fixed and refunded. However, Republicans have said that the problems with immigration are because policies that were in place during Trump’s government are not being used.
