A 50-year old activist from Boulder, Colorado died after setting himself on fire during a protest outside the Supreme Court on Friday evening.
The individual who was identified as Buddhist climate activist Wynn Bruce, reportedly set himself on fire to protest climate change.
Some believed that Bruce imitated the incident of self-immolation where a Buddhist monk in Vietnam set himself on fire during the Vietnam war to protest the Catholic ruling regime.
According to the reports, Bruce carried out the act around 6:05 p.m. on Friday evening and was immediately airlifted by helicopter to a local hospital after the Metropolitan Police, Supreme Court Police, and Capitol Police responded to the incident.

Following the horrifying incident, climate activists disturbingly cheered Bruce’s decision to harm himself.
In an official statement that Washington Congressional candidate Rebecca Parson released, she said “Climate activist Wynn Alan Bruce set himself on fire in front of the Supreme Court on Earth Day. He died from this act of self-immolation. Heed his warning. Take the climate crisis seriously. End fossil fuels.”
In addition, Buddhist priest and Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) Senior Scientist, Dr. Kritee K also said “This guy was my friend. He meditated with our sangha. This act is not suicide. This is a deeply fearless act of compassion to bring attention to the climate crisis. We are piecing together info but he had been planning it for at least one year. #wynnbruce I am so moved.”
Another disturbing post from a climate crazy on Twitter also said that “I invite you to pre-pitch the headline you want NYT to use when the human race collectively commits climate suicide. Go. We’re all committing suicide. Wynn Bruce just did it after great reflection.”
“Wynn Alan Bruce died yesterday so everyone could knock off the “happy” Earth Day crap. His death was an act of generosity, self-sacrifice, giving his life so others might pay more attention to the degree of the threat to our climate, and what needs to be done. He’s a hero.” A twitter user added.
Bruce died upon his arrival at the hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
