The Chinese Ambassador has warned the United States about the growing tension over Taiwan this week.
Recent reports revealed that China has launched 39 aircrafts near Taiwan on the same day the U.S. Navy sailed two aircraft carriers alongside allies in the Philippine Sea. The country has been increasingly aggressive towards Taiwan believing that it should belong to Beijing.
“If the Taiwanese authorities, emboldened by the United States, keep going down the road for independence, it most likely will involve China and the United States, the two big countries, in a military conflict.” Qin Gang said.

Moreover, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also claimed that the Taiwanese government was responsible for the conflicts in the region, claiming that the U.S. “has gone back on its commitment made when it established diplomatic relations with China, condoned and abetted ‘Taiwan independence’ forces, and tried to distort and hollow out the one-China principle.”
“This will put Taiwan into an extremely precarious situation and bring an unbearable cost to the U.S. itself,” he claimed.
In October, President Biden assured that the U.S would defend Taiwan from Chinese attacks, claiming that the US has a commitment to do it.
In 1949, China and Taiwan split. Although the U.S. does not formally recognize Taiwan, it maintains an unofficial alliance.
