Britain’s Foreign Secretary David Cameron talked with Donald Trump, who used to be president, about the possibility of a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.
Cameron and Trump met at Trump’s Florida home, Mar-a-Lago, to talk about the latest aid deal sent to Ukraine and Trump’s ideal conditions for making a deal with Russia.
“What are the best conditions for you as president to make a deal in January?” a person said Camron asked. There are costs for both sides to hold their ground. A spokesman for the British Prime Minister said that the country’s stance “hasn’t changed” and that “Putin must fail.”
“It is crucial, now more than ever in this conflict, that Putin is sent a very clear message that we will support Ukraine for as long as is necessary,” a source said. “I saw a briefing from an unnamed source. We don’t believe those stories.”
“Putting money into Ukraine’s safety is putting money into our safety.” Prime Minister Sunak said, “Our NATO allies are already scared that if Putin succeeds, they’ll be next, with all the bad things that would happen.”
Cameron said that they talked about a “wide range of important geopolitical issues” and agreed that Ukraine’s win was “vital for safety in the United States and Europe.”
Trump’s campaign said the meeting was to talk about “several issues impacting both countries.” These issues included the upcoming elections, Britain’s decision to leave the EU, the need for NATO allies, and many other things, such as the push for a Ukrainian win.
