Democrat-controlled states are tightening their already strict gun laws in response to the horrific shooting massacre in Texas that killed 21 people, including children.

Just recently, New York, Delaware and New Jersey that already have the strictest gun control laws in the country have recently passed a new slate of new gun control bills.

On Thursday, New York passed a bill that will allow the authorities to bar any citizens who are believed to pose a danger to themselves or others from possessing firearms.

Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the package of new laws on Monday.

“This is a moment of reckoning for us as New Yorkers and as Americans. So no 18-year-old can walk in on their birthday and walk out with an AR-15. Those days are over.” Hochul said.

In a study published by the gun control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety on January, it was revealed that “states with tougher gun laws have lower rates of gun-related homicides and suicides.”

Moreover, in California, Democrats advanced another gun-control bill that will allow private individuals to “sue manufacturers, sellers, and distributors of illegal assault weapons, ghost guns, and certain other firearms and to claim at least $10,000 in civil damages per weapon.”

In Delaware, a legislation that will require a permit and safety courses before buying a handgun in the state was also pushed.

Some Democrats in the state also argued that Delaware should also ban “large-capacity magazines, defined as holding more than 17 rounds of ammunition, and require residents to submit those weapons to a state buyback program.”

“Delaware took a major step forward today in addressing gun violence, and I am incredibly proud of my Senate colleagues for their courage and their conviction in passing this bill for a second time,” Senate President Pro Tempore Dave Sokola, the prime sponsor of SS 1 for SB 6 said.

“No responsible gun owner has a legitimate need to fire off more than 17 rounds without reloading. There is ample evidence that the 10-year federal ban on large-capacity magazines helped to reduce gun violence across the country. Limiting the sale of these large-capacity magazines in Delaware will likewise help to save lives in police standoffs and mass shootings in our neighborhoods.” He added.

Meanwhile, the red states still believe that the “good guy with a gun” is the only way to stop a bad guy with one and that the best response to mass shootings is by loosening gun restrictions.
