The Biden Family sparked criticisms after their German Shepherd, Commander was involved numerous biting incidents.
In a record obtained by Judicial Watch through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from the Department of Homeland Security, it was revealed that the dog had bitten multiple Secret Service agents at the White House between October 2022 and January 2023.
“These shocking records raise fundamental questions about President Biden and the Secret Service.” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said.
The records showed that at least ten different Secret Service agents were reportedly bitten by Commander.
The biting episodes occurred in various locations around the White House, including the Oval Office and the South Lawn, indicating a pattern of behavior rather than isolated events.
In addition, Judicial Watch disclosed one record, showing one incident that was severe enough to necessitate a hospital visit for a Secret Service agent. There are also documents showing an email exchange discussing the dogs’ behavior and the potential need for additional training.
“That’s freaking crazy, that stupid dog,” the superior said on the November 2022 attack.
“My leg and arm still hurts. He bit me twice and ran at me twice,” the victim responded, to which the first officer said, “What a joke. If it wasn’t [the Bidens’] dog he would already have been put down. Freaking clown needs a muzzle.”
“Commander has been exhibiting extremely aggressive behavior,” an officer said three weeks later.
“Today, while posted, he came charging at me. The First Lady couldn’t regain control of Commander and he continued to circle me. I believe it’s only a matter of time before an agent/officer is attacked or bit.”
On March 1, Commader reportedly bit a Secret Service agent, resulting in a minor injury and treatment at the White House Medical Unit.
Another biting incident also occured on March 8, when the same dog bit a National Park Service employee. The employee was treated by the White House Medical Unit and then returned to work.
Despite multiple biting incidents, the White House did not release any public statement regarding the issue involving Commander.
However, a Biden family spokesperson acknowledged the uniquely stressful environment for pets at the White House and assured that the President and First Lady are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all White House personnel.
In November 2021, the Biden family adopted Commander from a breeder in Pennsylvania. Prior to Commander’s arrival, Biden’s other German shepherd was also involved in several biting incidents, leading to his removal from the premises in March 2021.
