US President Joe Biden was trolled by Chinese state media after demanding oil and gas companies to “bring down” their prices on Saturday.
“My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril. Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now.” Biden said in a tweet.
The US President’s demand comes as the national average for gas prices in California was more than $6.25 per gallon while $4.82 per gallon in other states.
Biden’s statement also came after a top economic adviser in White House proclaimed that Americans are going to endure financial pain at the pump in order to maintain the liberal world order.
Moreover, Biden’s demand sparked another controversy with people blasting Biden.
“Even the person who wrote this tweet knows it’s complete bullsh*t and gas stations don’t control what they ultimately can charge. People aren’t this stupid.” Washington Times Columnist, Tim Young responded.
Republican House Candidate, running against Maxine Waters also slammed Biden and said, “Dude we are not a communist country.”
America’s third largest political party, The Libertarian Party also blasted the US president for his “scam.”
“You know as well as everyone that the Federal Reserve actually sets the prices – through rampant inflation. When 40% of the dollars in the world was printed in one year, inflation sets in and prices skyrocket. Just yesterday you were blaming Putin. We see through your scam.”
Furthermore, Chinese state media trolled Biden following his controversial remarks against oil and gas companies.
“Now the US President finally realized that capitalism is all about exploitation. He didn’t believe this before,”
Chen Weihua, EU Bureau Chief and columnist for China Daily, an English language media outlet owned by the Chinese Communist Party, said.
Since the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia broke out, the Biden administration has been blaming the increasing gas prices on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Biden also claimed in a recent press conference in Spain that American drivers will have to “endure high gas prices for as long as it takes for Ukraine to defeat Russia.” The New York Post reported.
In addition, the White House also blamed the oil companies, accusing them of refusing to drill on leasing sites approved by the federal government to artificially restrict the supply.
However, following Biden’s remarks asserting that Americans will have to suffer high costs until Russia is defeated, National Economic Council director Brian Deese released an official statement, defending the US President.
“What you heard from the president today was a clear articulation of the stakes. This is about the future of the liberal world order and we have to stand firm.” Deese claimed.
