President Joe Biden offered no reassurance when asked if Americans should worry about the prospect of a nuclear war with Russia on Monday.

As Biden walked across the White House lawn after returning from his trip in Delaware over the weekend, the president ignored reporters asking him about a potential nuclear war until one reporter asked him, “Should Americans be worried about nuclear war?”

To which Biden replied: “No.”

This comes after Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Friday about what Biden has done right with the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis.

“There is a report in The New York Times that you guys kept asking China to help you stop Russia from invading Ukraine, and they didn’t. So, what have you guys done throughout this slow-moving Russia crisis that has worked?” Doocy asked.

Psaki asked Doocy to clarify his question.

“The president talked to Putin, he talked to the G7, he threatened sanctions, he put sanctions in place,” he said. “Now, he says the sanctions are going take 30 days or about a month. Do you guys think the people in Ukraine have about a month?”

The press secretary responded defensively, stating that Biden has united global allies against Russia to deter Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“What the president has done is he has built a global coalition to stand up in the face of President Putin and President Putin’s aggression, and invasion of Ukraine,” Psaki said. “What he has done is he has rallied the world, our European partners, even at cost to them, in some capacities, to put in place significant sanctions, historic sanctions, that would have an enormous impact on the Russian financial sector.”

Biden has already imposed sanctions on Russia following Putin’s invasion, saying that G7 leaders are limiting “Russia’s ability to do business in dollars, euros, pounds and yen to be part of the global economy.”

“President Putin’s actions demand a firm response. That’s why we’re imposing full blocking sanctions on VEB and Russia’s military bank, cutting off Russia from western financing, imposing sanctions on elites, and more,” the president said on Twitter. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates.”
