Biden Regime Announces New Rules Cracking Down On Dishwashers

The Biden administration has announced new rules cracking down on dishwashers, months after suggesting a ban on gas stoves.

The Department of Energy (DOE) released a statement outlining its plans to reduce carbon pollution and conserve energy and water by banning dishwashers and beverage vending machines.

“The Congressionally-mandated proposed standards for new dishwashers and beverage vending machines and final standards for electric motors are designed to conserve energy and water while mitigating harmful carbon pollution,” the DOE said in a statement.

“DOE expects the new standards for electric motors will save American businesses approximately $464 million per year on energy costs, while the proposed standards for dishwashers, which have not been updated in over a decade, will save American consumers approximately $168 million per year on their utility bills,” the statement continued.

Some lawmakers have accused the Biden administration of using these new regulations to advance its green energy agenda at the expense of hard-working Americans. Critics also argue that the DOE’s cost savings projections are exaggerated and founded on false premises, and that these regulations will actually raise the price of appliances for consumers.

This comes after a Biden-appointed member of the Consumer Product Safety Commission made news earlier this year when he told Bloomberg that a ban on gas stoves was “on the table” due to the product’s alleged negative effects on health.

While top Democrats like Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer argued there was nothing to worry about, his own state of New York recently banned gas stoves.

“Nobody is taking away your gas stove,” Schumer tweeted in February. “Shameless and desperate MAGA Republicans are showing us they will cook up any distraction to divert from real issues the American people want solved, like the debt ceiling.”

Despite the concerns, the DOE is pushing ahead with its new rules for electric motors, dishwashers, and beverage vending machines, following the Biden administration’s recent push to regulate the lives of Americans in an apparent effort to combat climate change.

“The efficiency levels proposed in today’s rule reflect that there are models available today that can meet improved energy and water standards, while providing the cleaning performance that consumers expect from their dishwashers,” the department continued.
