President Joe Biden attacked former President Donald Trump and “MAGA extremists” after announcing his 2024 re-election bid.

“The speaker, the former president, and the MAGA extremists are cut from a different cloth. They treat [working-class people], they treat these folks, and they think they’re a threat,” Biden told the crowd.

This comes after Biden formally announced his 2024 re-election campaign on Tuesday morning. Vice President Kamala Harris will remain his running mate despite her low approval numbers.

“I said we are in a battle for the soul of America, and we still are,” the president said in his campaign video. “The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom, more rights or fewer.”

Biden went on to reference the January 6 riots and smear Trump supporters with a list of lies in his campaign video.

“Around the country, MAGA extremists are lining up to take on those bedrock freedoms, cutting Social Security that you paid for your entire life while cutting taxes for the very wealthy, dictating what health care decisions women can make. Banning books. And telling people who they can love,” he continued.

Similar to Harris, however, the president’s approval ratings are plunging. NBC News reported this week that 53 percent of voters said Biden shouldn’t run, while 76 percent of voters under 35 also think he shouldn’t run.

Officials also continue to question Biden’s physical and mental wellbeing, especially after he admitted in an interview recently that his age is “a legitimate thing to be concerned about.”

“But the best way to make a judgment is to, you know, watch me. You know, am I slowing up? Do I not have the same pace?” the president said in an October interview.

Voters are also showing serious concerns for Biden’s age and health, as an October survey found that 64 percent of Americans, including 50 percent of Democrats, said they were “concerned” about the president’s mental health.

Biden became the oldest individual ever elected to serve in the White House, and he could break the record should he win again in 2024.
