Not-so-shocking emails further reveal details about First Son Hunter Biden’s intricate tax evasion scheme.
According to emails from Hunter’s infamous laptop, he purposefully evaded millions in taxes by being a board member of the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings. One of its executives, Vadym Pozharskyi, then informed Hunter that he was opening a Maltese bank account for him.

Emails obtained by the nonprofit Marco Polo show that Burisma attempted to transfer funds to the Biden family through a Maltese bank account that Pozharskyi set up for Hunter. The executive later asked for the paperwork needed to open the account in May 2016, along with a copy of the younger Biden’s passport, a bank reference letter, and a power bill.
Hunter Biden’s assistant, Joan Mayer, Hunter’s assistant, then gave copies of his records in the ensuing weeks at the request of Pozharskyi. Mayer also suggested including a letter from Hunter’s legal counsel to confirm his annual salary.
The bank account froze a year later as investigations started into suspicious transactions tied to illegal activities. Malta reported in 2021 that “[n]early €11 billion in transactions that flowed through the Malta-based Satabank were flagged as suspicious in 2020, auditors EY have said.”
Pozharskyi appeared to have personally met with Hunter and then-Vice President Joe Biden in 2015. Hunter was thanked by the Burisma executive through email, along with his business partner Devon Archer, for setting up a private meal with the now-president of the U.S.
This comes after the Department of Justice recently announced that it was ending its investigation into Hunter without bringing any charges, and despite staggering evidence of his involvement in the Biden family’s shady business dealings.
Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, however, said that Hunter’s “sweetheart deal” will not stop and might even “enhance” the GOP’s probe of his business dealings.
“How can Hunter Biden plead guilty, no jail time, and the DOJ say there’s still an investigation trying to withhold information to the House?” McCarthy asked. “That’s unacceptable and will not stand.”
“Now, this does nothing to our investigation, and it actually should enhance our investigation because the DOJ should not be able to withhold any information now, saying that there’s a pending investigation,” he continued.
