Political analyst claims that impeaching President Joe Biden would only help him in his re-election campaign next year.
During Monday’s “Inside Politics” on CNN, political director for the network David Chalian said that a thorough impeachment investigation into Biden could actually “juice” his chances to win the 2024 presidential election.
“If one of the big potential vulnerabilities of a Biden re-election effort is an enthusiasm problem, we’re seeing that in small donors. If you want to know how to juice enthusiasm on the Democratic side? Launch an impeachment inquiry and launch impeachment, and watch what that will do to help rally Democrats to Biden’s cause,” Chalian said.
This comes as Republican lawmakers are calling for the impeachment of Biden and his family. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, for instance, recently said that the findings pertaining to First Son Hunter Biden invoking his father to pressure a Chinese business partner through WhatsApp are subject to impeachment.
“Look, this WhatsApp is direct evidence of Joe Biden abusing his government power to enrich his son, and, assuming 10% for the big guy, to enrich himself,” Cruz said in his podcast at the time.
Cruz also talked about allegations made by a whistleblower from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which House Republicans made public this week. The IRS whistleblower claimed that there had been unprecedented efforts to thwart investigations into Biden during the 2020 campaign and into his presidency.
Far-right Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also echoed Cruz’s sentiments, claiming that Biden is abusing his power for the arraignment of former President Donald Trump.
The Georgia Republican contrasted the evidence presented in the case of Trump with Biden’s own federal investigation over his alleged involvement in his son Hunter’s shady business dealings.
Greene also accused the Democrats of using a political opposition research paper, the Steele dossier, which has been debunked by the Durham report recently.
“The Democrats brought out the Steele dossier. The information was later debunked by Congress, the Inspector General, and special counsel investigations,” she added.
Special Counsel John Durham released his 306-page report recently, outlining his investigation into former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton’s “Russia Collusion” allegations against Trump.
