U.S. Air Force Academy offensive lineman Hunter Brown passed away this week while walking to class.
On Monday, Brown died after he suffered a medical emergency as he was leaving his dormitory on his way to class.
In an announcement released by the school, late Tuesday. the academy wrote, “with heavy hearts we share the loss of a cadet. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, teammates and fellow cadets.”
According to the report, the 21-year-old cadet 3rd class was a sophomore and was hailing from Lake Charles, La.
When asked about the incident, the school didn’t share the specifics of the medical emergency. However, the school revealed that Brown suffered and that the medical officials tried to administer life-saving measures on-scene.
The school also added that the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating the incident as the passing was on the military base.
Moreover, in a statement released by Lt. Gen. Richard M. Clark, the academy’s superintendent, he revealed that “Hunter was a standout offensive lineman on the Falcon football team and was well-respected in his squadron. The entire U.S. Air Force Academy mourns his loss, and our hearts and condolences are with his family, his squadron, and all who were touched by this incredible young man.”

Furthermore, the academy also claimed that it would coordinate with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an investigation.
In a statement released by Troy Calhoun, the head football coach for the Falcons, he reportedly praised Brown and called him “a pure joy to coach and have as a teammate.”
“Our players, staff and entire Academy have been so blessed and fortunate to have Hunter as a part of our lives. He was a pure joy to coach and have as a teammate,” Calhoun said.
“He was tough, a great worker, and no one unselfishly pulled harder for others than Hunter. His mom and dad, Candyce and Dustin, raised a wonderful son who made each of us a better person. We love our great brother, and our thoughts and prayers are with Hunter’s incredible soul and his family,” he added.
