Even though the US and other countries warned them not to, Israel moved into Rafah, which is between Gaza and Egypt. The last place where Palestinians are hiding is Rafah. For weeks, Israel has been planning an attack there, even though other countries have warned them not to. In spite of all of this, Israel has gone into Rafah and said it controls the area.
Joe Biden said last week that he would stop sending weapons to Israel if they went ahead with their plan to move into Rafah. This was the United States’ strongest protest since the war began.
Israel insisted that they needed to destroy four Hamas units in the area. However, some have said that this attack might not even “change the game” for the war. Even though the initiative talks aren’t changing much, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu keeps saying that this is how they can achieve “total victory.”
Government strategies have not yet been able to destroy Hamas. The report says that between 10,000 and 14,000 “fighters” have been killed, but this number could be wrong because it includes all males of “fighting” age who have died.
The biggest worry is the violence that Hamas is causing and the fact that it is holding hostages who are dying and going hungry. In the International Court of Justice, Israel is being charged with murder.
Turkey has banned trade with Israel, Colombia has severed formal ties, and Canada and Italy have stopped sending weapons to Israel.
People are having trouble because the war is hurting their mental health and their ability to pay their bills. More people are dying in the war so that there can be a “total victory” that doesn’t seem to be coming.
A solution was brought up to the officials, which included a ceasefire and the release of the hostages. However, the talk stopped when Hamas requested that the war end completely.
Some people have said that stopping the war might be best for Israel because it’s the only way to fix their broken relationship with the US and the rest of the world.
