An army in Beijing called the People’s Libertarian Army said they would set up “joint naval and air combat patrols in the South China Sea.” “They said that all military activities that cause trouble in the South China Sea and make hotspots are under control.”

The US has made it clear that they will protect the Philippines if they are attacked in the South China Sea. There are worries about problems getting worse between China and people coming into the Sea. China is becoming more assertive in the area, which worries officials about a possible clash.

The Chinese coast guard said that they “handled” a case in which they caught several illegally operating ships from the Philippines.

According to spokesman Gan Yu, “under the guise of “protecting fishing,” Philippine government ships have broken the law and caused trouble, and they have used organized media to deliberately stir up trouble and mislead people. This is continuing to make the South China Sea less stable.”

Gan said that they were making it clear that any attempts to break the law in the Philippines would be in vain and that they would also police the law in these waters.

People say that the US’s joint drills are meant to make sure the safety of the sea so that countries can go wherever the law lets them.
