More than half of Americans are against Israel’s military action in Gaza, according to a new study. Just over thirty per cent of people are in favor of the war.
When the same polls were done last year and now, they showed that people were less in favor of the war. A little more than 40% of people last year were against the war.
Over 2,000 people were killed when Hamas attacked Israel in October. This started a war that had been going on for months. Over thirty thousand Palestinian civilians have been killed in the war, which has made other countries angry at Israel for not caring about the civilians in the area.
“People in the U.S. don’t think much about the issue when they are asked to name the most important problem the country is facing.” “It also doesn’t rank very high when Americans rate a number of international issues as major threats to U.S. vital interests,” Gallup said.
Gallup went on to say that this war could still have an effect on the U.S. presidential race because some people might not like how Joe Biden is handling the situation, which would make them vote against him.
The United States chose not to vote on a move in the U.N. Security Council that would have called for an immediate ceasefire, but it was still passed. Before this one, the U.S. had vetoed every other measure that called for a ceasefire. So, Israel and Hamas still haven’t come to an agreement.
