A report from inside the UN shows that Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention camps are often mistreated

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine made the study public. It is mostly based on interviews with Palestinian prisoners. According to the story, they have been abused while they are being held, including being bitten by dogs, hit, and sexually assaulted. Since December, just over 1,000 people who were being held in Israeli prisons have been freed.

Israel denied the attack claims and said they were caused by “Hamas-inspired propaganda.” Two different groups are now looking into the claims, but there hasn’t been any proof to back them up yet.

According to the UNRWA report, prisoners said they were taken on trucks to big makeshift “military barracks” with room for 100 to 120 people each. There they were held, often for weeks at a time, while they were being questioned nearby.

Several people said they were pushed into cages and attacked by dogs while they were away from the site, and some of them, including a child, showed dog bite wounds when they were freed.

The claims are serious, and the different types of assault on the people Israel is holding vary in how bad they are. There is no hard evidence to back up the claims yet, but they are in line with what news outlets and human rights groups have been told.

The Israel Defense Force has rejected all the claims and said they did not play loud music or try to keep people from sleeping. They also gave a general denial about the situation. Of the people who died while being held captive, they said they knew about them and were looking into each case individually.
