Drug smugglers suspected of having bales of cocaine caught

During a drug bust in the eastern Pacific Ocean, the US Coast Guard Cutter Alert said they found and took away 11,000 pounds of cocaine

The police were on a 59-day drug patrol when their chopper saw a “go-fast vessel.” This is a small, low-profile boat that smugglers often use. When they saw the ship, they sent out both of their chase teams and told them to stop, but they kept going.

The helicopter finally turned off the ship’s engine, but it didn’t say how it did it. They were contacted about the problem, but no information was given about how they turned off the ship. In the past, patrol planes have been known to fire shots at the engine to stop it.

While the police were looking for the boat, the drug dealers dumped cocaine balers into the water. The crew members later found the balers the next morning.

The crew found dozens of bags of cocaine worth about $143 million that the smugglers had hidden. As a Schedule II controlled substance, cocaine is still very illegal. It has a high potential for abuse, and it’s often found when people are caught carrying drugs.

“The interdiction is among the Coast Guard’s largest single interdictions in the Eastern Pacific and represents a major blow to the criminal organizations attempting to smuggle illicit narcotics through the maritime domain,” it said.

There were no more comments from the Coast Guard about the drug dealers or any other details about the drugs that were seized or what happened next.
