Trump Takes Lead In Wisconsin Poll

New poll shows that former President Donald Trump is Wisconsin’s leading pick in the 2024 election.

According to a survey conducted by Emerson College, 42 percent of local registered voters would back Trump against President Joe Biden, who garnered 40 percent of the response.

11 percent, meanwhile, said that they would support “someone else,” while eight percent are undecided.

“In a state Biden won in 2020 by less than a percentage point, and Trump won in 2016 by nearly the same margin, this poll suggests a similar trajectory for 2024,” said Spencer Kimball, Executive Director of Emerson College Polling. “Independent voters in Wisconsin are nearly split: 33% support Biden and 31% support Trump; a plurality, 36%, of independents are undecided or plan on voting for someone else at this time.”

The results mark a statistical tie because they fall within the 4.2 percent credibility interval, but given that 43 percent of those surveyed supported Biden and 42 percent supported Trump in the 2020 race, the poll shows a three-point swing in support for Trump.

“These numbers are reflective of another swing state, Pennsylvania, where 61% think Trump won fair and square in 2016 and 52% said the same of Biden in 2020,” Kimball continued. “Like in Pennsylvania, this falls along partisan lines in Wisconsin: 35% of Democrats think Trump won fair and square in 2016, while 35% of Democrats think he stole the election, and 68% of Republicans think Biden stole the 2020 election, and 20% think he won fair and square.”

This comes as Trump is currently leading in several polls across the country. According to The Economist and YouGov’s recent survey, 51 percent are in favor of the 45th president, while DeSantis comes in second with 14 percent.

Around 1,500 U.S. adult citizens between August 26 and 29 were asked who they would vote for if “the Republican presidential primary in your state were held today.”

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy comes in a distant third with five percent. Haley comes in fourth with four percent, followed by former Vice President Mike Pence with three percent, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie with two percent, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott with two percent.
