Former Vice President Mike Pence’s campaign has confirmed to Fox News that he has met the requirements for participating in the initial Republican presidential debate.

To qualify, candidates must meet two criteria established by the Republican National Committee (RNC). One of these criteria is crossing the 40,000 donor threshold, a milestone that Pence has now successfully achieved.

Additionally, Pence had already met the polling threshold set by the RNC.

Pence’s 2024 presidential campaign said on Monday that earlier in the day they crossed the 40,000-donor threshold – one of two criteria set by the Republican National Committee for GOP White House hopefuls to reach the debate stage. Pence had already passed the polling threshold mandated by the RNC,” Fox News reported.

Pence’s campaign has informed the RNC about his qualification and highlighted that they were the first campaign to have the national party committee verify their numbers.

“The former vice president’s political team said they reached out to inform the RNC that Pence had qualified and spotlighted that they were the first campaign to submit their numbers for the national party committee’s verification process,” it added.

With this development, Pence becomes the eighth Republican presidential candidate to announce their qualification for the upcoming debate.

Notable candidates who are also expected to participate include Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Senator Tim Scott, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former ambassador Nikki Haley, and South Dakota Governor Doug Burgum.

Former President Donald Trump has also met the necessary criteria, but he has yet to confirm his participation in the debate.

According to Pence’s campaign, they have garnered support from more than 200 donors across 40 states. This surpasses the RNC’s requirement of donors from at least 20 states. Notably, Pence’s campaign points out that he achieved this feat within just nine weeks since launching his presidential campaign in June.

In comparison, several other candidates, including Haley, Scott, and Ramaswamy, took longer to meet the same threshold.

As the stage is set for the upcoming Republican presidential debate, candidates like Mike Pence are positioning themselves to make their case to the American public as the GOP seeks to identify its nominee for the 2024 presidential race.
