The Biden family has been facing some criticism lately. Joe Biden, the President, has been supporting his son Hunter despite his troubled past, but he hasn’t acknowledged his biological granddaughter until now.
In a recent statement to People Magazine, Joe Biden quietly admitted to having seven grandchildren, not six as previously known.
He mentioned that his son Hunter and the mother of his granddaughter, Lunden, are working together to build a relationship that’s best for their daughter while respecting her privacy.
“Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward.” Biden said.
Friday night news dump: Joe Biden has finally acknowledged his granddaughter, Navy Roberts. It took him four years to acknowledge the four-year-old even existed. pic.twitter.com/M3HNCFYrmb— Jesse Watters (@JesseBWatters) July 29, 2023
“This is not a political issue, it’s a family matter. Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy,” he added.
The timing of this admission is being questioned by some. It comes after an op-ed by Maureen Dowd in the New York Times, which was critical of Biden’s family. The announcement was made to a celebrity news website on a summer Friday evening, seemingly to minimize attention.
The President’s acknowledgment of his granddaughter is seen by some as an attempt to improve his image as a grandfather and address the recent scandal surrounding his family.
So, now it’s official – Joe Biden has seven grandkids, and he’s trying to mend relationships within his family. The situation has attracted media attention, but only time will tell how it unfolds.
“Biden is trying to save face before the election. Once it is all over, he will careless about her. Do you want to know why? Because he didn’t love his own grandchild until now. Sad,” one netizen said in response to the news.
“Screw that. She’s granddaughter of the first installed president of the United States, who disowned her for four years. She’s destined to be an activist speaking out against all the injustices of the 2020’s and setting the record straight,” another netizen said.
“It’s just politics based on the advice he gets from handlers. The American people don’t like anyone who abandons their children. Duh! Surprised it took so long but they need the positive press with Hunter finally in trouble,” a Twitter user continued.
