Reports have emerged about a disturbing incident in which four young children were discovered living in a Boston Housing Authority-run (BHA) apartment filled with concerning items, including drag queens, alcohol, drugs, sex toys, and even a deceased individual.
The incident occurred over the Juneteenth weekend at the Mary Ellen McCormack Housing complex, managed by the city.
According to the Boston Herald, the fire department responded to a call at the address on Old Colony Avenue regarding a man in cardiac arrest who required medical attention. However, upon arrival, the firefighters encountered more than just a routine medical emergency.
The incident report, obtained by the Herald and corroborated by the police response, revealed the shocking discovery inside the apartment.
“The apartment was in extremely unsanitary conditions. Approximately 6 adults, who appeared to be males, were seen in the apartment,” they wrote and revealed that they subsequently discovered “four children in the back bedroom being hidden by an adult male from first responders.”
Alongside the children, aged between five and ten, were drag queens, suggestive materials, illicit substances, and the tragic presence of a deceased individual.
“At about 11:11 AM, on Saturday, June 17th, officers responded to the area of 381 Old Colony Avenue for a death investigation. District Detectives handling, not suspicious, no further information,” a Boston Police Department spokesperson said in a statement.
The revelation of such a distressing situation has sparked outrage among local officials and community members.
At-Large City Councilor Michael Flaherty expressed his deep concern, labeling the situation as “sickening.”
“I was informed by people at the scene that there were drugs, alcohol, sex toys all around the apartment as well as a dead body on the floor,” Flaherty claimed.
Multiple sources also told the outlet that “Some of the adults were dressed as women when first responders arrived at the scene.”
“All of the adult parties were being uncooperative and did not provide helpful information,” the incident report continued. “All adults present denied having children inside the apartment.”
Boston City Council President Ed Flynn strongly condemned the discovery, describing it as “inhumane and horrific.”
Flynn further called for thorough oversight and investigation into the practices and procedures of the BHA to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
“This underscores the need for oversight into BHA inspections and eviction practices, security efforts in developments and protocols to ensure children are safe in every BHA apartment,” Flynn declared.
