Biden Admin Restricting Coal And Gas Power Plants

The Biden administration continues its so-called crusade to combat climate change by proposing new rules to restrict fossil fuel power plants.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced on Thursday that it is looking to cut emissions from power plants as part of President Joe Biden’s climate change agenda to achieve a zero-emission electrical grid by 2035.

EPA Administrator Michael Regan said that the goal of this proposal is to reduce climate-warming emissions and improve Americans’ health through cleaner air.

“Our fundamental responsibility at EPA is to protect people’s health and safeguard the environment, and a key part of our role is ensuring that all people in this country have clean air to breathe,” Regan said.

Under the rules, facilities will be required to transition to renewable energy sources, invest in expensive carbon capture technology, or shut down completely if they fail to decrease or capture nearly all of their emissions by 2040.

Critics, however, have accused the Biden administration of using these new regulations to advance its green energy agenda at the expense of hard-working Americans. They also argue that this could jeopardize U.S. energy security and fail to meet the nation’s energy needs, given that power plants power roughly 60 percent of the country.

Surprisingly, Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin emerged as one of the critics of the proposal. With Democrats holding a one-seat majority in the Senate, Manchin has vowed to oppose all of Biden’s future EPA nominees who need to receive confirmation.

“This administration is determined to advance its radical climate agenda and has made it clear they are hell-bent on doing everything in their power to regulate coal and gas-fueled power plants out of existence, no matter the cost to energy security and reliability,” Manchin said.

“I fear that this administration’s commitment to their extreme ideology overshadows their responsibility to ensure long-lasting energy and economic security, and I will oppose all EPA nominees until they halt their government overreach,” he continued.

This comes as the Biden administration continues to push its green agenda on the American people. Earlier this year, a Biden-appointed member of the Consumer Product Safety Commission made news when he said that a ban on gas stoves was “on the table” due to the product’s alleged negative effects on health.
