Texas National Guard Arrives At Southern Border In Riot Gear

Texas National Guard troops have arrived at the southern border as illegal immigrants continue flocking into the country.

“Great work by Texas National Guard and Texas DPS,” tweeted Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. “Biden sent 1,500 troops to the border to do paperwork. Texas deployed trained soldiers and troopers to take real action and respond to this crisis.”

Video shows a large contingent of national guardsmen equipped with riot gear and ballistic shields in Brownsville. Another clip shows the guardsmen blocking hundreds of illegal immigrants attempting to cross the border through the Rio Grande River.

President Joe Biden had previously deployed 1,500 troops to the southern border, though they were tasked with transporting and processing the massive flow of illegals rather than stopping the flow.

The massive influx of illegal immigrants entering the country has put a significant strain on resources, especially in Texas, where many border cities are struggling to keep up with the surge of new arrivals.

This comes as the Biden administration continues to struggle with the massive influx of migrants entering the U.S. from Mexico. The U.S. has been seeing massive migrant numbers since Biden announced last year that he would be lifting “Title 42,” a controversial border policy implemented by former President Donald Trump back in March 2020 that allowed the border agency to turn migrants away.

Meanwhile, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre continues to oversell the Biden administration’s efforts in the southern border crisis by spewing lies about the border situation, saying that the president is taking the situation “very seriously.”

“This is something that the President has taken very seriously, putting forth a comprehensive immigration reform legislation on his first day to deal with DACA, to deal with migrants, to make sure that we fix the system, make it more modernized — right? — do it in a humane way.  That is something that the President wants to do,” Jean-Pierre responded about sending social workers instead of military personnel to the border.

The Department of Homeland Security has reported that nearly 2.4 million migrants were detained at the border for the fiscal year ending in September, surpassing the already-historic number of 1.7 million migrant detainees in 2021. The numbers are likely to increase once “Title 42” ends later this month.
