President Joe Biden defended his son Hunter Biden over tax fraud and firearms charges in a rare interview on Friday.

Speaking with Stephanie Ruhle on MSNBC, Biden insisted that he trusts Hunter and that he “has done nothing wrong.”

“First of all, my son has done nothing wrong,” the president added. “I trust him. I have faith in him. And It impacts my presidency by making me feel proud of him.”

This comes as federal prosecutors are reportedly close to making a decision on charging Hunter after the younger Biden met with representatives of the Justice Department earlier this month to discuss the ongoing investigation.

The House Oversight Committee has issued a subpoena to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the document, which the whistleblower alleges shows then-Vice President Biden participating in an exchange of money for policy decisions scheme with a foreign national during the Obama administration.

“We believe the FBI possesses an unclassified internal document that includes very serious and detailed allegations implicating the current President of the United States,” Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley said.

This marks a significant advancement because it represents a turning point in the probe into the shady business dealings of the Biden family.

Bank records obtained from the committee’s subpoena also show that State Energy HK Limited, a company connected to CEFC China Energy, wired $3 million to Rob Walker, a member of the Biden family, in March 2017. Walker then distributed the money over the course of about three months.

It also appears that first son Hunter received payments totaling about $610,000 as part of the 2017 agreement, while first brother James Biden received payments totaling about $360,000, and the president’s daughter-in-law Hallie Biden received payments totaling about $25,000.

Elsewhere in the MSNBC interview, Biden explained why he is running for re-election at the age of 80.

“Because I have acquired a hell of a lot of wisdom and know more than the vast majority of people,” he said. “And I’m more experienced than anybody that’s ever run for the office. And I think I’ve proved myself to be honorable as well as also effective. We cannot let this election be won and the same man who was president four years ago.”
