A new report revealed that former US President Donald Trump is in the process of preparing for battle against fellow Republican, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

In an exclusive report on the New York Post’s news article, the Media IET claimed that the former President is currently in the “process of deciding which insulting nickname he plans to use against Ron DeSantis if the Florida governor competes with him for the 2024 Republican nomination for president.”

This comes as political observers have been speculating that the Florida governor could be the most challenging opponent that the former President may face in the Republican primary.

Moreover, The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman and Michael Bender claimed that Donald Trump is currently experimenting with harsher smears against the governor.

According to the journalists’ article, “Since November, despite the criticism he faced at the time, Mr. Trump has periodically hit out at his potential rival, albeit to a relatively small audience. He posted his most recent innuendo about the governor on Truth Social, where he has just under five million followers. And he has insulted Mr. DeSantis in casual conversations, describing him as ‘Meatball Ron,’ an apparent dig at his appearance, or ‘Shutdown Ron,’ a reference to restrictions the governor put in place at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.”

The journalists also highlighted the controversy that surrounds the DeSantis-Trump rivalry.

Although DeSantis tried not to engage with Trump’s attacks, last week, he debunked Trump’s accusations, alleging that DeSantis behaved inappropriately with high school girls decades ago.

Amid the controversy, Haberman revealed on Twitter that DeSantis will announce his candidacy in late May or early June, should he choose to run.

“DeSantis is said to be looking at a late May/early June entrance if he runs. It’s not as late as, say, Rick Perry getting in in 2011. But it’s late, and will test whether the antibodies he gets from conservative media serves as a shield that previous hopefuls didn’t have.” Haberman said.

Recently, Haberman claimed that “DeSantis, who has never run nationally,is leaving himself a short runway and little margin for error with a likely late announcement. And history is filled with Rs trying to figure out how to handle Trump’s smears and attacks finding themselves steamrolled.”
