In an exclusive report released by Cleveland 19 News, it was revealed that the single-engine Beechcraft A36 was located near Rye Lake in White Plains, New York.

“The plane was heading to the Cuyahoga County Airport in Richmond Heights, Ohio, but its pilot reported having engine trouble about a mile away from the Westchester County Airport around 6:15 p.m., Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Elizabeth Isham Cory said. The Westchester County Airport is approximately 39 miles north of JFK.” Fox News reported.
Following the discovery, Westchester police spokesperson Kieran O’Leary released a statement, claiming that the air traffic controllers were aware that the plane was approaching the White Plains airport because the plane’s pilot radioed them. However, they lost track of the plane after the pilot went silent.
In addition, O’Leary also states that emergency responders which include the Westchester police and firefighters, initially searched nearby woods and a reservoir, adding that the was underway to find out what really happened to the plane.

“Do you have engine power right now? Are you able to maintain altitude?” an air traffic controller reportedly asked the pilot.
“No, the engine is overriding… Mayday, mayday, mayday,” the pilot said in response.
