Last Tuesday, the country then again struck the third Russian airfield.

Officials in the southern Russian city of Kursk also confirmed the latest attack which was located around 100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Russian media also released a series of images showing a black smoke rising from the airfield.

According to the governor of the region, the strike had ignited an oil storage tank. However, there were no reported casualties.

Moscow also claimed that the strikes were conducted using Soviet-era drones. Meanwhile, Kyiv refused to claim responsibility for the strikes but has celebrated them.

Last Monday, Ukraine also reportedly struck the Engels air base. Reports revealed that the location is known for hosting Russia’s fleet of giant strategic bombers, and in Ryazan. It is also where Russian authorities claimed three service personnel died.

Amid the series of attacks, Russian President Vladimir Putin conducted a meeting with his security council to discuss issues related to “internal security”, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov revealed.

In a report released by the New York Post, it was revealed that a senior Ukrainian official claimed that the drones that were involved in Monday’s attacks were launched from Ukrainian territory.

Russia’s defense ministry also claimed that it struck Ukraine’s military command system last Monday with a massive high-precision strike.

“If Russia assesses the incidents were deliberate attacks, it will probably consider them as some of the most strategically significant failures of force protection since its invasion of Ukraine,” the UK defense ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

While Russia suffers a series of missile strikes, Ukrainian officials warned the Ukrainians that emergency blackouts will once again take place in several regions following the strikes.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also announced that at least four people were killed on Monday as Russian rockets hit several cities.

“In many regions, there will have to be emergency blackouts. We will be doing everything to restore stability.” Zelensky said.
