A brave mother in Connecticut rescued her daughter from a “rabid” racoon and is hailed as “mom of the year” online.

According to the reports the vicious racoon latched onto her daughter’s leg when the courageous mother jumped in and forcely pulled the animal from the child.

The incident was caught by a surveillance camera where the ferocious beast attack can be clearly seen.

In the video, the child can be seen and heard shouting, appearing to ask for help while the raccoon was latching onto the child’s leg.

Seconds later, a woman got out of what appears to be their home and desperately wanted to save the child from the attack.

According to the reports, the child who was later identified as 5-year-old Rylee, was standing on her front porch as she prepared to walk to the school bus.

However, all of a sudden, the rabid racoon attacked one of her legs, causing her to scream in terror.

“I was going out to get on the bus and a raccoon was there and tried to attack me. It didn’t want to go off of my leg.” the five year old child said, recalling the frightening scene in an interview with local outlet WFSB.

The shrieking girl can also be seen in the video, trying to kick the varmint away to no avail as it clings doggedly to her pants.

“Go inside, get in the house,” the horrified mother told her daughter while holding her in one hand and Ranger Rick with the other, dangling it by the scruff of its neck.

In an exclusive interview, Logan Kelsey MacNamara recounted the “unprovoked” attack, which took place last week in the family’s hometown of Ashford.

“I heard her screaming and ran to see what was going on. I thought maybe she slammed her hand in the door, I was not expecting to see a raccoon attacking her. If I didn’t have the video I wouldn’t be able to tell you exactly what happened, it all happened so fast.” MacNamara said.

The incident went viral after she posted the video of the attack on social media.

In a report released by Fox News, it was revealed that “MacNamara said that Rylee sustained a few puncture wounds and, while both have scratches, they are overall faring OK following the attack. She attributes the lack of injuries to the fact that her daughter wore jeans and not leggings like she usually does.”

On Friday, the animal control services searched for the culprit in the woods. However, it was nowhere to be found.

“As such, it’s yet unclear if the raccoon suffered from hydrophobia, however, the pair went to the hospital and received several rabies shots as a precaution. They will need to return every couple of days for the next two weeks for follow-up jabs,” the report added.
