Authorities revealed that when the Menlo Park Police Department responded to a report to rescue the victim who fell into a wood chipper, the man was already deceased.

“According to the outside source, the employee was pulled into the chipper during tree trimming operations.” OSHA described.

In a statement released by the Police Department, authorities confirmed the fatality of the said accident, leading to the sudden death of the tree trimmer.

“We all feel sick and sad. We’re really sad. We’re trying to imagine what the poor family and their fellow workers are feeling. And it’s just, it’s a lot. We just feel terrible,” longtime resident Lisa Mitchell said.

At the time of writing, the worker’s identity has not yet been released. It is also still unclear when they will be making a further statement on the identity of the victim.

“Authorities from the Menlo Park Fire Protection District and the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office also responded to the tragic accident. The street was shut down while authorities conducted their investigation but all other roads in the area were open to traffic during this period,” ABC Chicago said in its exclusive report.

Moreover, the Menlo Park Police Department confirmed that his death will be investigated by the Cal/OSHA Division of Occupational Safety and Health.

Furthermore, the man’s fellow workers were with him during the time of the incident. However, the company said that they would not be releasing a statement.

Resident Mitchell explained the community is quite familiar with the company. “We see a lot of their trucks, So, I can only imagine what they’re feeling, because I’m sure they treat their employees like family and it’s just, it’s awful.”

Resident Thanh Skinner also released a statement, saying that the neighbors were previously alerted about tree-trimming operations in the area. However, they never imagined it would lead to a deadly incident.

“It’s generally very peaceful, quiet, you don’t really see any activity. So, when I came home around 2:30 p.m., the street was completely blocked off. And so we thought maybe something had happened to one of our neighbors.” Skinner described.
