Former US President Donald Trump is now endorsing Democrats in sarcastic messages, taking his trolling to the next level.
The former president hit back at Lawyer Daniel Goldman and made eyebrow-raising endorsements after it helped impeach Trump.
On Wednesday, Trump posted on his social media platform, the Truth Social, saying “Lawyer Dan Goldman is running for Congress, NY-10, and it is my great honor to Strongly Endorse him. I do this not because of the fact that he headed up the Impeachment Committee and lost, but because he was honorable, fair, and highly intelligent.”
“While it was my honor to beat him, and beat him badly, Dan Goldman has a wonderful future ahead,” the former president added with apparent sarcasm.
During the first Trump’s impeachment proceeding, Goldman served as the House Democrats’ chief counsel and the front-runner in the 10th Congressional District’s crowded contest.
Following Trump’s post about Goldman, Assemblywoman Yuh-Line Niou, one of the other candidates running against Goldman, responded and said, “Donald Trump just endorsed my multi-millionaire opponent, in case you needed a reminder of what the stakes are. #NY10, choose your fighter,” the Manhattan assemblywoman tweeted.
However, Goldman’s party didn’t take Trump’s endorsement kindly.
“Last week Donald Trump attacked Dan Goldman, who led his impeachment. Now he’s pretending to endorse Goldman. True to form, Trump is trying to meddle in an election,” the Goldman campaign said in a statement.
“This is a pathetic attempt at fooling Democrats who are far smarter than Trump is, and it’s clear that only one candidate in NY-10 is living rent-free in Trump’s head. Buckle up Donald. Dan’s coming for you.” It added.
Moreover, the former president’s trolling didn’t stop there after he posted another sarcastic message, endorsing Rep. Carolyn Maloney, who is currently running for re-election in the redrawn 12th Congressional District against fellow Rep. Jerrold Nadler and challenger Suraj Patel.
“A vote for Carolyn Maloney in NY-12 is a vote for the future! She is a kind and wonderful person, who has always said terrific things about me, and will support me no matter what I do, just as I supported her very early on,” Trump said in a post.
“She begged for a check with no quid pro quo, and I gave it to her. In fact, I gave her many….” he added.
