North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned that his country will use nuclear weapons against the United States and South Korea.
In a report published by North Korea’s KCNA news agency on Thursday, Kim allegedly threatened the US and South Korea with nuclear weapons, stating that he’s willing to use “absolute power.”
“Our armed forces are completely prepared to respond to any crisis, and our country’s nuclear war deterrent is also ready to mobilize its absolute power dutifully, exactly and swiftly in accordance with its mission,” Kim said in Wednesday’s speech, the state-run Korean Central News Agency reported.
According to the reports, the remarks from the president came out during a conference with the Korean War Veterans.
Apparently, the event took place to honor the 69th anniversary of the end of the fighting in an effort to bolster the national unity amid economic struggles caused by the coronavirus outbreak and U.S. sanctions.
Moreover, the North Korean leader also accused the United States of committing “gangster-like” activity over its military joint military drills with South Korea while criticizing North Korea for its missile tests and of “double standards.”
Kim also alleged that the U.S. is “demonizing” North Korea so it can justify its own hostile policies.
Furthermore, he also blasted the South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol after forging a strong military alliance with the U.S. alleging that Yoon is controlled by “confrontation maniacs” and “gangsters.”
“Talking about military action against our nation, which possesses absolute weapons that they fear the most, is preposterous and is very dangerous suicidal action. Such a dangerous attempt will be immediately punished by our powerful strength and the Yoon Suk Yeol government and his military will be annihilated.” Kim stated of South Korea.
Kim’s statement also came out after the South Korean president sought to strengthen the country’s ability to neutralize nuclear threats from North Korea.
“We once again urge North Korea to take the path of dialogue to achieve substantive denuclearization and peace,” the South Korean President’s office said in response to Kim’s remarks and added that South Korea is capable of defending itself.
