US First Lady Jill Biden was blasted by protesters, criticizing her husband during her visit to an ice cream store in Connecticut this week.
On Wednesday, the First Lady briefly stopped by a New Haven ice cream store as part of a national summer learning tour where hecklers blasted her about the US President’s leadership in the United States.
“Your husband is the worst President we ever had. You owe us gas money!” an unnamed man shouted at Jill Biden.
“Thank you! Thank you for your support, thank you,” Biden responded, as she smiled and waved toward the heckler.
Another heckler can also be heard screaming at the First Lady, “you suck!”
According to the reports, Jill Biden was with Education Secretary Miguel Cardona and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont when she arrived in the area to visit children suffering from learning loss as a result of coronavirus lockdowns.
“Discovered today that @FLOTUS and I share two common loves: teaching kids and ice cream,” Lamont said in a tweet along with pictures from the visit to the shop.
However, Biden’s visit became controversial with Americans criticizing her for roaming around despite her husband, President Biden’s positive Covid-19 test result.
The First Lady’s visit came the day before the White House announced that her husband, Joe Biden, has tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from a trip to the Middle East.
“Shouldn’t she be isolating if her husband has Covid? I’m sure she was in close proximity to him. Or have the rules changed and they no longer care? Or are they just faking this whole thing?” A twitter netizen said.
Another netizen also said, “her husband has covid & she’s walking around like no big deal. This is how you know covid is a joke.”
On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a written statement that “this morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19. He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and is experiencing very mild symptoms. He has begun taking Paxlovid. Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time. He has been in contact with members of the White House staff by phone this morning, and will participate in his planned meetings at the White House this morning via phone and Zoom from the residence.”
Joe Biden also announced “I’m doing great. Thanks for your concern. Just called [Pennsylvania Sen. Bob] Casey, Congressman [Matt] Cartwright, and [Scranton] Mayor [Paige] Cognetti (and my Scranton cousins!) to send my regrets for missing our event today. Keeping busy!”
The President also released a video message confirming that “this morning I tested positive for COVID. But I’ve been double-vaccinated and double-boosted, the symptoms are mild and I really appreciate your inquiries and your concerns. But I’m doing well and getting a lot of work done. I’m gonna continue to get it done.”
