Tom Cotton Blows the Whistle on White House Coverup Over Afghanistan

Senator Tom Cotton is blowing the whistle on the Biden administration over the mismanagement of the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal last August.

During an interview on Thursday’s “Fox and Friends”, Cotton discussed the White House’s handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal, condemning President Biden for lying to the American people when disclosing information about the situation.

“They obviously failed catastrophically,” Cotton said, adding that much of what President Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken said during the run-up “simply was not telling the truth… it was trying to cover up for its gross mismanagement.”

The senator also has a copy of a 2,000-page investigation report that contains grim details about the withdrawal, including a skirmish that occurred between U.S. troops and the Taliban, which the White House never shared with the public.

The report was ordered after a suicide bomb attack killed 13 U.S. service members and around 170 Afghans. It also reveals that the White House and State Department led the military astray because they failed to understand the threat the Taliban was posing to Afghanistan.

The messy evacuation led to the abandonment of thousands of people as the Taliban took control of Afghanistan—including American citizens, Green Card holders, and Afghans who served alongside U.S. troops for years—as well as millions of dollars worth of military equipment.

The senator’s bombshell revelation comes after Biden gave the green light on a plan to evacuate Americans from Ukraine if Russia invades.

Over 1,700 U.S. paratroopers have begun to set up camp near the Ukrainian border and will provide logistics support, as well as coordinate with the evacuation of 30,000 Americans living inside Ukraine.

The Biden administration is hoping to avoid another disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal amid the rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

Russia has denied that it is planning to invade Ukraine, although officials from the U.S. believe that an attack could happen in the coming days or weeks.

“Everyone who lived the evacuation from Afghanistan felt it was remarkable but also chaotic,” a defense official shared with the Wall Street Journal. “That was a messy, messy withdrawal. We don’t want a chaotic withdrawal from Ukraine.”

Biden urged American citizens in Ukraine to leave the country as soon as possible.
