Russian forces took over the Adviivka Coke Plant after Ukrainian troops left on Monday because they didn’t have enough weapons.

“The ‘Centre’ group of troops went on the offensive and took full control of the coke plant in Avdiivka,” the Russian Defense Minister said. On the executive buildings of the plant, Russian flags were flown. When Russian forces saw that Ukrainian soldiers had left the plant, they took it over.

Ukrainian troops left the Coke Plant because they were running out of ammo. It has been hard for them to get supplies because U.S. military aid has been held up for months while politicians work on an agreement bill. Ukrainian troops left the plant so they wouldn’t be trapped by Russian troops who had few weapons.

Putin told his troops how proud he was of their work and saw it as a win for his country in the war. The Ukrainian general said that the troops had to leave right away to “protect the lives and health of the servicemen.”

“Our soldiers did their military duty with honor,” General Syrskyi said. “They did everything they could to destroy the best Russian military units and caused the enemy to lose a lot of people and equipment.”

After pulling troops out of the plant on Saturday, President Biden talked with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine. Biden has pushed for aid to Ukraine, saying that Congress needs to rapidly pass the bill so that aid can reach Ukraine as soon as possible.
