Someone was caught in Germany on charges that they were spying for China’s Secret Service and leaking information from the European Parliament. The accused spy, Jian G, was said to have started working for a German member of the European Parliament in 2019. He is also said to have spied on Chinese resistance members in Germany.

The AfD member he was said to work for was named Maximilian Krah, and their officers were said to be right next to each other, but the spy was never seen there. A spokesperson for the AfD said that the stories of the arrest are “deeply concerning” and that the party would do everything it could to assist.

The German federal prosecutor’s office said, “In January 2024, the accused shared information with his intelligence service boss several times about negotiations and decisions in the European Parliament.”

According to reports, these claims will be looked into by German intelligence services since Jian G was just caught.

“If it turns out that people in the European Parliament spied for Chinese intelligence services, that would be an attack on European democracy from the inside.” “The person who hires that person is responsible,” said Nancy Faeser, the German interior minister.

They were joined by three other German men who were also arrested for sharing information about German study into new technologies. Two other people were arrested in the UK for supposedly spying for China as well.

There are now no more claims of spying from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. They said that these claims were made to hurt China’s reputation.
