U.S. Government Spending Bill to Keep the Government Open?!

A short-term funding bill was just passed, which kept the government from shutting down this weekend as planned.

The bill that was passed would give government agencies money for a shorter time so they can keep working. Some organizations have been given permission to stay open until March 8, and others have been given permission to stay open until March 22. This will help with funding in the short term.

When this bill was passed, it helped keep the government from shutting down on Saturday because departments did not have enough money. With this money, government jobs like food safety checks and even air traffic controller pay won’t have to go without.

Congress has to pass 12 different spending bills every year, but they haven’t made any decisions about them yet, even though they said they were making progress on them. In a meeting, Mike Johnson said, “We’ll get it done.”

The leader of the Senate, Chuck Schumer, said, “I’m happy to tell the American people that there will be no government shutdown on Friday.” We’ll have dodged a shutdown and all the bad things it does for the American people if we pass this bill,” That’s it! Biden just needs to sign the funding bill into law for it to become real.

A lot of pressure has been put on politicians to get funding passed or find a way for the government to get more money.  Rep. Chip Roy from Texas said he had a plan to keep the government running until September, but they would have to stop all “non-defense spending.”

Aside from shutting down the government, many people have looked for other ways to cut spending and avoid a shutdown. Bills have been being passed for months, but there has been no agreement on how to pay for them. This has caused a huge delay that could lead to shutdowns.
