The International Olympic Committee delayed a team figure skating competition’s gold medal awarding ceremony due to “legal issues”, but reports says that one russian skater in the team has tested positive for drugs and was later on confirmed by USA Today source.

The source did not mention any names about who among the six members of the team had tested positive for drugs. Still, Russian media outlets have reported that Kamila Valieva, 15, was the one who tested positive for Trimetazidine, a banned drug, right after the ceremony was postponed.

“Let’s, for the sake of understanding, wait for some explanations either from our sports officials or from the IOC,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in response to the IOC’s process as IOC spokesman Mark Adams stated in an interview that the issue required “legal consultation” with skating’s governing body.

There’s no clear date for the medal ceremony as it can be delayed if the team in question were to be disqualified due to circumstances. If that happens, Canada, which finished fourth in the event, will take the winning place instead of Russia.
