The Biden Administration is allegedly struggling to purchase oil from the Middle East following the sanctions imposed to Russia in response to its decision to invade Ukraine.

In a recent report published by Fox News, the administration is reportedly having a hard time purchasing oil from the Middle east after the US banned imported products including oil from Russia amid the Ukraine crisis.

According to some, the administration is facing resistance due to “long-standing mistrust from countries such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).” Fox News report says.

Meanwhile, others speculated that “President Joe Biden was met with defensiveness from the two nations and his attempt to reach their leaders.”

However, the White House National Security Council (NSC) debunked the speculations, arguing that “This is a mischaracterization and does not reflect reality. There are no rebuffed calls, period.”

Moreover others also claimed that the “relationship of US and the Middle East is a tenuous one, with complexities dating back to the 1970s.”

According to former Pentagon official Michael Rubin, “in the Middle East, and specifically in Arab society, relationships matter. The last thing you want to be is a fair-weather friend. And from the very start, [Team] Biden defined themselves as a fair-weather friend.”

Rubin was a Pentagon official when he “advised the military on matters relating to Iran and Iraq under the George W. Bush administration.”

Furthermore, amid the questionable relationship between Obama and Biden administrations, and the Middle East nations, when asked about it, the White House refused to respond.

However, in February 2021, Biden said that the war in Afghanistan, “has to end,” arguing that “to underscore our commitment, we’re ending all American support for offensive operations in the war on Yemen, including relevant arms sales.”
