A 56-year-old man in Chicago was lucky to have his concealed carry permit and gun with him on Monday, December 7, as he was mugged early that morning in Chicago’s Lawndale area and had to shoot three would-be burglars who attacked him.

Apparently, the hidden rack was sitting in his car around 6 A.M Monday, December 7. The car was near the 4700 block of West Arthington Avenue. It was then that her vehicle was approached by another vehicle, one with three teenagers aged 15 to 18 inside, FOX 32 WFLD reported, citing the Chicago Police Department.

According to the WFLD report, one of those three teenage assailants got out of the vehicle he was in and walked over to the parked car our lucky covert courier was in, aiming a firearm at him and asking the man to hand over all his personal belongings.

But the 56-year-old wasn’t your average victim. He was armed and ready to fight rather than hand his stuff over to the perp, so the man, after a brief scuffle with the teenage assailant, drew his firearm and aimed it at the three assailants. Opening fire on them, he managed to hit all three, though he wounded rather than killed them.

After opening fire on the vehicle with the teens inside, it crashed while trying to drive away, hitting the driver in the head. The one behind him just broke his leg. The one shot in the head is in critical condition, the one with the broken leg is in fair condition, and the original assailant was found a few blocks away with a gunshot wound to the shoulder and is now in critical condition.

ABC 7 Chicago, adding more details about his condition, said:

The driver of that vehicle, aged between 15 and 18, was shot in the head and was taken to Mt. Sinai hospital in critical condition.

A second teenager of about the same age was found several blocks away with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He was taken to Stroger hospital in serious condition.

A third teenager, who was in the back seat of the suspect vehicle, suffered a broken leg in the crash and was taken to a local hospital in good condition, police said.

The victim of the attempted theft was unharmed during the quarrel.

ABC 7 Chicago, tweeting about the incident, said, “There was a shooting in Chicago early Monday morning after a concealed carry license holder opened fire on would-be robbers in Lawndale, CPD said.”

What is fortunate for the man is that he was able to carry a firearm legally in Chiraq, a city dominated by crime, a city with an incredibly high crime rate but also very strict gun laws, which generally prevent its residents from fighting back. Criminals. If there were more men armed and ready to use their weapons, as was the man in this story, then perhaps the city’s crime rate would decrease as criminals find that their actions have no pleasant consequences.
